Arctic Winter Tour to Svalbard

Join us for a long weekend in Longyearbyen to photograph Svalbard’s stunning nature and wildlife. This will be an experience you won’t soon forget. We will focus on white Arctic foxes and rock ptarmigans, as well as Svalbard reindeer, all set against the breathtaking Arctic winter landscape.

In March and April, it’s still full winter in Svalbard, but the days are long and bright. If the skies are clear, you’ll get the warm Arctic light in the mornings and evenings. In the evening or at night, there’s also a chance to see the Northern Lights, weather permitting. On this trip, we’ll take you on a snowmobile adventure into the wilderness to search for beautiful landscapes, reindeer, foxes, and ptarmigans. If we’re lucky, we might even encounter the king of the Arctic, the polar bear.

At this time of year, the Arctic foxes are completely white with fluffy winter fur. Riding a snowmobile through this incredible landscape is a truly unique experience that must be experienced firsthand.

We’ll also drive around the roads near Longyearbyen. On these trips, there’s a good chance of spotting some of the local Arctic foxes. Ptarmigans and reindeer are also possible sightings. If the little auks have arrived at their breeding grounds, we might see them too. Otherwise, the nature around Longyearbyen is stunning, and we’ll also have opportunities for landscape photography.

Day 1:
Departure from Oslo Airport to Longyearbyen. Upon arrival, we’ll be picked up at the airport and taken to the accommodation. Check-in and a group dinner out. We’ll brief participants about the trip. If time allows after the flight, we’ll go out for a short field trip.

Day 2:
We get up early and go out to look for Arctic foxes before breakfast, weather and light permitting. Then we return for breakfast. After breakfast, we head out again and stay out until lunch. After lunch, we go on a snowmobile tour from around 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. At night, there may be a chance to see the Northern Lights.

Day 3:
We start early in the morning, driving around to photograph landscapes and wildlife, preferably before breakfast. After breakfast, we go out again until lunchtime. After lunch, we head out for another round of wildlife spotting. We’ll also check whether the little auks have arrived at their breeding grounds.

Day 4:
We start with a field trip if time allows before departure. Then we’ll be driven to the airport for our flight home.
